Rola-pipas são rampas de acesso ao mar, talhadas na pedra natural, para facilitar o deslize dos barris do caminho até ao mar. As pipas eram empurradas pela rampa para serem transportadas em barcos para a ilha do Faial.
The barrel ramps were carved on the natural rock, allowing for the barrels' sliding and facilitating access to the sea. The barrels were pushed along the ramp onto boats that carried them to the island of Faial.
